Jess creates jewellery inspired by the wonder of the natural world from her off grid studio based in the Waikato. She's inspired by Aotearoa's beautiful forests, wild ocean shores and starry skies.

At Kowhai and Sage, you’ll find jewellery that feels like a walk in the forest, or a moment by the sea. Whether it’s the iridescence of paua, the soft shimmer of moss agate, or the tiny details of a native bird, every piece carries a story—one that connects you to the land, the sea, and your own journey.

Jess's mission is simple: to craft jewellery that becomes part of your story. Jewellery that reminds you of your roots, your wild heart, and your love for the natural world around you.

Hey, I'm Jess! The hands and heart behind Kowhai and Sage. 

My partner and I live off grid and are working on re-planting the land we care for with beautiful native trees. We are kept busy with that, and our dogs, cat, ducks, donkey and horse. My inspiration comes from this beautiful place and my love for the outdoors.

Once in the corporate world of conservation, I am now on a mission to bring awareness to our native species and natural world through jewellery. The special (and strange!) critters we have in Aotearoa hold a dear place in my heart and I celebrate them every day by making and wearing jewellery inspired by this diverse, wild and stunning country. I hope these pieces bring you as much joy as I find in making them.
